Traineeships
What are these traineeships about?
Many churches and theological colleges offer in depth education and training for people heading towards a primary role in church ministry or other types of ministry and mission. However, there are few in depth training programs for the bulk of Christians heading towards the workplace. This program offers people a time for more intensive learning, reflection and training to equip workers to be disciples and make disciples.
Who is it for?
This is for people either heading towards, already in, or heading out of a primary role in the workplace. If you have a desire to deepen your understanding, heart and skills for ministry and mission in the workplace - whether paid or unpaid, whether you are just starting work or nearing retirement - this is for you.
What does it look like?
The training program consists of Bible study, reading, listening, practical activities, discussion and mentoring.
What sort of topics are covered?
The program will explore a number of topics relevant to discipleship in the workplace including:
How do I maintain a deep and vital relationship with God in the midst of busyness?
How do I grow and exhibit Christlike character amongst the people I work with and for?
What is a Biblical view of work, mission and ministry?
How do I discover and use the gifts and abilities that God has given me to make a difference through my ministry?
How do I reach out with the gospel naturally, graciously and effectively?
How do I stay strong emotionally and spiritually over the long haul?
How much time will it take?
There is an option to do either a one year or two year program. The course runs over 36 weeks each year and one day each week. It is expected that people will work for four days a week for the duration of the program to gain the most benefit.
What it the cost?
If you are accepted for a traineeship, there is no cost. The trainers involved in the training program all give their time voluntarily. Some have formal theological training and most have extensive experience in the workplace.
